The red shading on the image of Elstree to your right, indicates how much was destroyed. Films such as Moby Dick, The Dam Busters, Star Wars and Indiana Jones were all made at Elstree. To the left is what is still open today.

The Castle built for Ivanhoe (1952) was left standing on the MGM backlot for many years. A host of stars came along Elstree Way to work at the dream factory including MGM hearthrobs Clark Gable, Robert Taylor and Gene Kelly. The glamour stakes were provided by Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly.
