Drop In and Be Inspired

An eclectic kinetic creative hub, the Movieum Film School aims to facilitate pure creativity in one of London's most unique attractions.

Drawing its inspiration from the unique exhibition and the history of British cinema - the Film School is a training and outreach studio to inspire, educate and entertain.

Using a variety of media - digital film, film stock, fine art, installation, photography, editing, writing, storyboarding, poetry; the space will be fully interactive, providing a themed creative outlet for participants as well as hosting special group projects, discussions and screenings.

We will also aim to reach out to marginalised communities, providing inspiration, training and film services to young people who have a talent or desire to express themselves in making films, but lack the opportunities to achieve their dreams

We aim to make contact with community and film charity organizations, to organise group visits and projects around the museum, while applying for educational film funding to embellish this process.
We will advertise joint events/conferences hosted at the museum, via their member lists and build relationships with UK and international cultural and arts organizations.

Make Your Short Film!

(Films made will be uploaded onto the Movieum website)

Gather the skills you need to make your own short film using the unique setting and resources of the Movieum…

1. Write up the Image…

Have you got a great idea for a film? Learn how to turn it into a fully fledged short film plot. Practice communicating with images - the language of film. Begin to imagine your characters and hear their voices as you create a script and story-board - a chance to draft your ideas before you commit them to celluloid.

2. Design & Light the Image…

Investigate the basics of lighting technique. How to illuminate your characters to highlight or conceal certain attributes. Experiment with creating different light settings and atmospheres in which scenes in your film could take place. Design your set and choose your props.
