• Anime. Animation Anime is an English reference to Japanese animation, very popular outside of Japan right now. 
  
  
• Horror films. Films  such as Ring are also referred to as J-Horror   Cult Horror. Films  such as Suicide Club or Battle Royale
  
  
• Kaiju. Godzilla sums up Kaiju, monsters and monster destruction, although often with a twist.   
  
  
• Pink films.  A socially engaging and well-crafted kind of film that could be referred to mistakenly here as soft porn.   
  
  
• Yakuza films. Gangster Movies.   
  
  
• Jidaigeki. Sometimes known as chambara, these are films set in olden times about Samurai and ancient values.History
