The Movieum of London

The Movieum, an interactive exhibition dedicated to the British film industry, opened in February 2008 at County Hall on the South Bank.
It promises to tell the story of how movies are made and where to find the locations of famous shots.
In addition to the history of Pinewood and Elstree there are sections on special effects, animatronics, make up and wardrobe.
Also part of the Movieum experience are the animation galleries featuring limited edition prints of favourite cartoon characters for sale.
The displays - in the panelled corridors of the former home of London's government - have been put together with an obvious passion for film.
The Movieum is the latest venture of Jonathan Sands whose Weird & Wonderful company – originally a movie prop hire business based at Elstree – was behind the 2007 Star Wars exhibition and the ongoing Fright Club attraction at County Hall.
London has been without a film museum since the British Film Institute closed the Museum of the Moving Image in 1999. The BFI is planning to build a new national film centre on the South Bank, probably on the controversial Hungerford car park site next to Jubilee Gardens.
Open: Daily 10am-5pm
